September 18, 2024Honoring Kids’ Developmental Stages
October 2, 2024This has been one of those weeks where we have needed to tap into our own resilience. So… a full-sized blog will appear next week. For this week here is a simple yet powerful idea:
Building strong, positive connections with children and teens bolsters their resilience. One of the most powerful ways to build this connection is to engage in 15 minutes of child-led play on a regular basis. Simply put, have fun doing whatever they are doing with no agenda other than to play together.
- Get on the floor with a baby or toddler and follow their lead.
- Play tic-tac-toe with the restaurant silverware.
- Share memes with a teen.
- Compare dance moves across the generations.
Engaging in their play builds a strong connection that allows for love, laughter, and positive memories. It teaches them that you see them as they are. The ability to have fun together builds a connection that nurtures their resilience, both now and in the future.
Peace,
Laura
