Laura’s Liminal Bump
May 13, 2026
Advice for May Gardeners… and Everybody
May 27, 2026Naming things is powerful; it gives you a handle to grab on to and manage ideas. Lower Case Liminal Change is a process that happens after you manage a troublesome bump in life. The bump is an unwelcome interruption that you can manage, but which leaves behind a noise or rattle in your forward momentum. The noise is the thoughts or emotions that won’t go away even though you have the situation under control. You feel uneasy and keep thinking about it in the background of your life. Once you sort out what is going on with the noise, you can take deliberate steps to address your concerns. Steps lead to change, and in the end, you have a new normal.
This is a cycle, not steps that you take once and are done. You name the pain, notice your reactions, and make choices in an iterative process. Recognizing where you are in the process allows you to be deliberate about supporting your life.
Name the Pain
Notice Your Reactions
Make Choices
This process of naming, noticing, and choosing is a cycle. Pay attention to your internal reactions, to support your own journey. Bumps are going to happen. Your thoughts and feelings about them are a great source of information about ways you might create change toward your own thriving. The process of Lower-Case Liminal Change occurs many times in a lifespan. Each time is an opportunity to learn, adjust, and focus on what makes the most sense for the next stage of your journey.
Peace,
Laura
